The U.S.Constitution set out to form a Federalist Republic, our actual history destroyed the experiment long ago. Believing we are a federalist republic makes it easier to believe other myths we live with. Union and Old Glory is our united heritage set for us by our Founding Fathers; myth.
We are not operating as originally intended. One nation, one flag, America first in all things is far from intentions. Original intent is critical to know! We must quit lying to ourselves if we believe we are what we were intended to be. There is no way to simply reverse course and ‘conserve’ supreme Law as intended.
No matter what our system of governing started as the country has long abandoned the simplicity of our original design. Changes have occurred subtly as well as suddenly. Whether by amendments, wartime usurping actions never rescinded, allegiance to party over state or country all lead to today’s unitary form of governing for the united States. Though it is true we are not a democracy, it is also true we are no longer a federalist republic.
Reviewing historical forms of government to more clearly identify how the United States governs today is a challenging exercise. Factional cabal has morphed governing into Bureaucratic Socialism (BS) politically and long-established crony-capitalism economically. The U.S. government is a Gordian knot of confusion due to 150+ years of clinging to the myth we are somehow still operating under the intent of state or federal constitutions as originally agreed upon in 1789, reinforced in 1791. Factions took over all branches and spun us into one nation seen today.
Union, Old Glory, and the American Flag are not the central part of our original intent, it is not federalism. One exceptional nation is the creation of Lincoln’s War and the myths inculcated ever since. Our uncivil war set us on a path far removed from federalism. Though some today want us to be a federalist republic again it will not happen until we can accept the fact 1865 is the year our experiment in federalism was killed, on purpose.
The U.S.Constitution did not get bruised during Lincoln’s War, it was forever altered. Radical Republicans from the late 1840s through the 1870s saw to it many socialist planks were introduced (public education and income taxation are two important ones). Fleeing from failed revolutions in Europe, many arrived with letters of introduction from Karl Marx, this is fact. Socialist roots are much deeper than originalist roots.
After the war, propaganda and the rewriting of history were keys in building the fiction too many believe as truth today. Sing it with me; we are, and always have been, one nation. So many praise Lincoln yet his very words, actions, and focus prove Mt. Rushmore needs a face lift.
He wanted historical fame, Radical Republicans wanted central, social control, a fair match. By winning their war the new history of our country was quickly written as truth tying in 1776.
This revision was taught through public education, popularized by writers, and in song. Our new myth has been systematically solidified nationwide, with more fiction added each passing decade.
Trump fans cheer his nationalism. America first brings pride to some pundits who claim they want our constitution restored to original meaning. Whether it is Graham Ledger, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh or other ‘conservative’ voices on the right, we hear them talk of the importance of our constitution. We also still hear them praising the words and deeds of the president that helped lead to the death of our constitution, Abraham Lincoln.
These same pundits line up strongly behind party, with today’s one nation crowd clinging to an elephant while socialists ride their donkey ever more proudly to a globalist beat. Each faction spreads its own version of our myth and help to rewrite history further while clinging to factions our Founding Fathers knew were the root of ruin throughout history.
The disorders and miseries which result gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of public liberty.
Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight), the common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.
George Washington, Farewell Address, 1796
It serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which finds a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country is subjected to the policy and will of another.
If these pundits are truly concerned with restoring our Federalist Republic roots, they must first stop accepting the myth we’ve all been fed as truth. Bureaucratic socialism and crony-capitalism will continue pulling us into stronger socialism, plugging into globalism’s bureaucracy, as long as we are blind to our real history. Today’s conservatives cannot solve for a problem they are unwilling to understand.
Untying this Gordian knot believing our exceptionalism lies in war, conquest, and capitalism through government oversight or party success will be impossible. Restoring federalism should be our goal but we lose sight of it by not truly understanding what it is.
That long-ago experiment still holds exceptional opportunity through true liberty. How do we undertake a restoration? The factions long tearing it apart control government, ignoring their Oath of Office while convoluting supreme Law for their profits. Campaigning has become a multi-billion dollar industry, is there any wonder why media is so willing to choose sides while raking in huge sums in advertising?
So what will it take to restore our original intent? Conservatives? The next most important election in history? Hardly, too much profit in conserving today’s myths for those accustomed to factional prowess. Until we start with getting the factions out of the legislative branches it does not look good for any restoration close to original intent.
